12. It can be very rewarding to use one’s time, talents, and skills to help someone else. People who sew have made hats for cancer patients who have lost their hair, quilts for ill or displaced children, dolls and teddy bears for traumatized children, adaptive clothing for disabled people, and more. 19. Encourage church members to donate one item each month to be used for shoe box gifts or the local food bank.
20. Encourage "In Honor or Memory" shoe boxes. Have a program in your church to pack an Operation Christmas Child shoe box in honor or memory of someone. Create a card that would be filled out in the person's honor or memory and then place the card
in the shoe box. Send a card to the person you are honoring. Instead of giving Christmas gifts to family members, fill a shoe box gift in their honor or in memory of someone.
